Cranberry Pear Sauce

Cranberry Pear Sauce

Skip the canned stuff this Thanksgiving….homemade cranberry sauce is so easy to make!

This sauce is naturally sweetened with a ripe juicy pear and maple syrup, and no refined sugar. It takes 3 minutes of hands-on time, and 15 minutes to simmer.

  • 2 cups fresh organic cranberries
  • 1 ripe Bartlett pear, finely chopped (may use another type of pear, but a ripe Bartlett is nice and juicy and sweet)
  • 1/4 cup real maple syrup (or more if you like it sweeter)
  • pinch of lemon or orange zest

To Prepare:

In a small pot, add the cranberries, pear, and maple syrup. Gently bring to a boil over medium high heat, then reduce heat to medium and simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes until you have a nice thick sauce. Mash up the remaining fruit with a potato masher. Stir in the zest.
